Guten Tag aus Maine, USA

Recommended Posts

Greetings! Thanks for the add. Originally from Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania Deutsch ancestry), but currently living in Maine (northeastern-most state). I’ll be writing in English—I know a little Deutsche, but not enough unfortunately.

I’ve owned 4 small blocks—started out with a 2016 V7 II (~60,000 km), briefly owned a Lario, and currently have a V9 Bobber and V7 III, both which I’ve customized. The V7 III is now a dual-sport with NTX650 forks and a set of 21/18 wheels that I built. The V9 was initially given the Monza treatment, but I recently decided to pivot toward a cafe racer build.

I also own a BMW R80/7 mated to a Russian Sputnik sidecar that serves as my bad weather and hauling machine (I sold my car 2 years ago). The 1986 Sputnik was bought 5 years ago in its crate, and I’m still riding on the original, 40 year-old tire— I like showing off the Made in USSR stamp on the tire to older folks who were around and the new kids who have no idea what it means because kids in the U.S. don’t pay attention to history.

Away from motorcycles, I’m an illustrator.

Danke schön and cheers! I’ll try to throw in some Deutsche from Zeit zu Zeit. But I’ll most likely bugger it up.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You’ve done some lovely customisation work...
It’s a shame that the (too thick) tyres from the V8 were fitted to that successful Monza conversion.
But otherwise, it’s turned out beautifully.

Enjoy your Moto Guzzi, and we look forward to seeing more photos.

Best regards,
Holger

Danke. Yeah, I was planning to install 18/18 on this build before I changed my direction. I couldn’t get the tank to sit more parallel with the frame due to the cylinders, so I decided to redirect my intention. I still plan on building 18” wheels for the café project.

Hello Dirk,

Welche to the forum😃

Nice to see, that the forum is getting more and more international - especially with USA you are representing a country with V2 motors, but in the wrong direction😅

But on Youtube I've seen a lot of videos from the US with different Guzzies. But all test riders are enthusiastic wirh of great Italian bikes.

Best wishes and always a safety ride

Hans - Dieter

Hi Dirk and herzlich willkommen!

I think your two bikes look perfect and MG should sell them just like this - I've never seen the V9 getting a Monza treatment but I love it!

Glad to have you here´😉

Moin Dirk, willkommen.

Nochmals...Willkommen. 👍
